I have to say this first look into the new series by Sylvain Reynard was an utterly pleasant surprise! The author stated that they would be entering the paranormal realm with their new series at the conclusion of the Gabriel Inferno series. So when that was mentioned I had two emotions going: 1) I was jumping for joy that I was getting more books by Reynard, and 2) a bit nervous if I would continue to read the author's new work. Paranormal is a hit or miss for me. Either I like it a lot or I find it a bore. Well I have to say with how much I love Reynard's writing style, I didn't feel I was drowning in paranormal elements. Reynard brought me into an world unlike any other. And after this read I want to get to know all about The Prince.

The Prince by Sylvain Reynard is set in Florence, Italy. The Prince has had some valuable art stolen from him. And he will stop at nothing to get it back. Fast forward to modern day Florence and The Prince is set to create a bloodbath for the thieves that have stolen his possessions. The thieves in question? None other than The Emersons! Yup you read that right, Gabriel and Julia have a bulls-eye on their back and The Prince will stop at nothing to make sure vengeance is carried out for the things they "stole". But there are forces out there trying to destroy The Prince. Will he be successful in carrying out his plan or will his enemies take him out before he even has the chance?

To say I'm intrigued with this novella is an understatement. The Prince is a very mysterious and cantankerous fellow. Not on Professor status yet, but I have no doubt that Reynard will get him there as the series progresses. Reynard's artistic writing style leaves you wishing you can transport from where ever you are and land you right inside his story. How I wish I was in Florence right now. I can't wait to see what Reynard has in store with the first book in the series, The Raven. Oh and before I end this review I just want to say it was so good seeing Gab & Julia in this book. I've missed those two tremendously. Even though they were the targets' of The Prince and oblivious to his vendetta, it was interesting how the author fit them into this story. I can never get enough of those two.

Out of a 5. I'm giving this a 4 stars. Good start Reynard. Now lets see what you have in store for The Raven.
