Review of Rome (A Marked Men Novel, Marked Men #3) Jay Crownover

Rating: 4 stars

I’m really into this series (The woman should have just written all of these stories in one humongous volume. Encyclopedia style!). Lord have mercy i’m so enamored of this alpha bad boy lil world she’s created, that i’m always a bit sad to leave it. These guys are all sexy tatted up men with hurt little boys beneath the surface. There are a couple of differences with Rome. His problems aren’t created by his parents or some childhood trauma, but more internal. After he comes back from the war he just doesn’t know how he fits in again. He was always the protector, the one to keep everyone together. with his return he finds that life moved on and he feels what defined him before just doesn’t fit. Add to that some grueling PTSD and you got one troubled hottie always in the middle of trouble. When his constant drinking and abrasive behavior start to hurt the group (Her family) Cora can’t help but get involved.
These boys all embraced her and helped her get up when she was at her lowest, so she wasn’t about to let the big gorgeous brute get away with being obnoxious anymore. So she does what she does best: Pours a beer over his head and tells him to get over it. He calls her Tink (to be fair it’s her nickname)and she calls him Captain No Fun(to be fair he was being a dick)which makes for some serious feelings. I loved how they were not what the other expected but what they needed. She becomes his safe haven, his light. And to her i think he felt like home. And in between all this angst is the raunchy sex which isn’t too shabby folks!
Now i’m just anxiously waiting for the next ones (For realz Mrs. Crownover, Encyclopedia volume!  Just a suggestion).
