REVIEW OF SKIN BY KYLIE SCOTT
Jul 14, 2014
RATING: 5 STARS
Came across this gem two nights ago while browsing through amazon for new reads. The cover alone stood out like a beacon around the many and the the name: SKIN. Ooh yeah instant physical attraction. After reading the synopsis i was excited but at the same time shocked! A zombie apocalypse romance and i’m interested?!? A very “The Walking Dead” plot (nope i don’t like that show. Zombies EWWW) with steamy heat. Roslyn Stewart a former librarian is wholed up in a school with eight other people all survivors of a zombie plague and their supplies have run out. And in comes in Nick a stranger who is willing to part with his supplies all at the cost of trading her over to him. She is completely incensed and can’t believe her group would basically sell her over. The whole time Nick has a plan, to supply her with a haven filled with every comfort she’ll need including his protection all in trade for her body. Although he keeps her captive ( chained to be exact) eventually her defenses come down and she comes to not only depend on him but yearn for his wicked offer. Even though i’ve never been a fan of the whole abduction for love scenario this one was pretty fast past and even a lil endearing. It makes you think if you were in that same position would you go those extremes for attraction/companionship? Her fighting him every step of the way was actually funny and his persistence was romantic. Although there are some zombie fighting scenes, they’re pretty light. So you hardcore zombie lovers might not get the tingles from this one. It left me pretty happy and i sure wouldn’t mind Nick fighting off zombies for me then giving me the goods. UhmmHmmm…
Note: This is a sequel to Flesh. I skipped it straight for the second because the fist story just didn’t do it for me. One girl two guys is not my thing, but if it’s yours you might wanna read that first.
