Jul 2, 2014
RATING: 4 stars
Release Date: August 26, 2014
I received this arc through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Warning : Some Spoilers will be included in this review. Also for what ever reason i used Greek Mythology deities as examples/descriptions. Have no clue why that pop up ( perhaps it was the god like man meat subjects) You been warned Chickadees!
What's better/hotter than a MMA fighter? An MMA fighter with a heart of gold, who fights and cares for the defenseless that's what!. Cannon "The Saint" is such a man. He started a rec center where with the help of fellow (and very drool worthy) fighters he runs a underprivileged kids program. He keeps a neighborhood watch with those same guys. Scares off drug dealers all in the name of keeping the town he loves and its citizens safe. Even the woman he has brief affairs with can't hold a grudge. How could you not drool over a warrior Adonis who kicks criminal ass?!! But just when you think he can't get any more tortuously dreamy in comes his Achilles heel. The woman that got away and took his heart along with her. 3 years ago Yvette Sweeny was brutishly assaulted and he came to her rescue. After that incident gone was the girl that flirted with him endlessly till one day she vanished. But now Yvettes grandfather has given him his second chance. With his will Mr. Sweeny has left half of everything to Cannon. He also wrote him a letter pleading to convince Yvette to return home to stay. Finally he he can show her that there's no need to keep running away from whats meant to be. And now that she's no longer underage all bets are off.
Yvette has wanted nothing to do with her past. Moving to California was her independence ,her chance for a clean slate. But what no one knows is that the events that happened that night in her grandfather's home left her scarred. A shell of her former self she rather disappear in the background than ever be the center of attention. When she has to return home she makes it her goal to appear strong and not be that weak victim they all think her to be. Especially the one person who could bring her defensive walls tumbling. Colton was pretty much her teenage dream and having him save her from a rape attempt left her feeling deep guilt. Thinking she'd only ever been a burden he felt sorry for, she did the best thing she could : Runaway. Now those days are over and she's a big girl with big girl panties to help her conquer what lies ah ead. Or so she thinks! Seeing each other only bought all those yummy yearnings back and things get steamy pretty soon. Cannon stubbornly refuses to let go and she has no choice but to give in.
The chase was pretty instant ( and endearing). He gets all alpha male and she basically fights the attraction till she becomes a puddle. Can't say that i blame her! He was delightfully delicious. All the good guy acts had my heart pitter pattering and the aggressive hero ones my naughty bits on fire. Only complaint was the waiting for when they finally got down to it. I'm all for suspense of the chase but Zeus all mighty i almost threw my kindle across the room with all the "almost got it on moments". All in all really good read. Even when i was frustrated with his waiting for that right moment, i still wanted to know the rest of their story. So good show Ms Foster, i tip my fan of fighters hat to you!
PS: Please pretty pleeeeeeeeeeeze with glitter on top, don't make us wait For Armie's story too long! (trust me gurlz this one is one to look forward to) I'm in lust with him so consider my poor flaming bloomer's!!!

Amazon Synopsis:
A surprise inheritance reunites a mixed martial arts fighter with the woman he's never forgotten in the first in a smoldering new series from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster
Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He's also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she's older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon.
Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather's legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette's scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he'll break all the rules to do it….
