Acksel alpha to the Wilde creek pack has thrown away ancient law and declared it acceptable to mate with humans or any other paranormal beings. What the rest of the pack doesn't know its that hes been fighting off his urge to be w/ one himself, his mate. Growing up in the same town they knew each other since H.S. The sweet popular cheerleader was kind to him at a time when most people treated him like an outsider. Especially those of the pack who were larger and stronger and tended to bully him. As soon as he blossomed with both bod and aggression, he knew she was meant to be his. But he doesn't claim her and instead leaves her alone. He thinks it's the only way to protect her from being challenged by pack females.
Brynn has a pretty good life. She has a job she loves, really good friends and lives in a town she adores. But even with all theses things shes lonely and can't seem to forget the boy that got away. But enough is enough and she realizes she can't continue to compare every one she dates to Acksel, a man who doesn't seem to know she exists (or so she thinks). She vows to start fresh and find someone to love.
Fast forward ten yrs later and he still can't deny the pull that drives him to distraction and her cinnamon fragrance he can't resist. Put a love sick/horny werewolf, alcohol and the alluring scent of his mated female and what do you get? One night that changes it all, and that as much as they both may want to can't ever walk away from.
I'm a sucker for the whole " Fell in love while we were kids" story line so i ate this right up. And that drunken scene when they first got together! Oooooh weeee it could cause bush fires across America ( pun intended). Although their relationship is very sweet at the core it was also rather annoying. His constant self punishment gets old pretty quick. And don't get me started at how flippin irritating she is when it comes to forgiving the guy when he steps out on her. So he acted like a total were-dick but the guy explained. And it was a reasonable explanation too. I still think there could have been a bit more to their story. But if you have any left over twilight fantasies of Bella actually picking Jacob, hey this might tootsie your roll for a couple of hours ;)

Amazon synopsis:
Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of the one human who was kind to him in school. Now, ten years later, Brynn Mara is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there’s no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her.
But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true, and the only woman who ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake.
This book contains one ticked off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.
